Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. – John 20:16.
The story in John 20 was no doubt a sad time in the life of those closest to Jesus. They had spent time with Him, walked with Him, talked with Him, but now, they were separated after his crucifixion. Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found the stone rolled away. After telling Peter and John what she found, she returned as they found the tomb empty.
They were doing the right things for when you face difficulty. They were looking for Jesus, but they couldn’t find him, were unable to hear from him and felt that all hope was lost.
That was until Mary heard one word. She was so perplexed in her situation she did not recognize him until He said her name. When He spoke her name, the entire situation changed. She knew exactly who he was and that everything was going to be okay.
Sometimes it does not take drastic action on behalf of God to change our situation. Sometimes, we just need to listen for him to speak. When He speaks, it changes everything.
