Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. — Matthew 11:28
Have you ever had those days where it seems like it was challenging to get through? It seems that no matter what you do, it is a struggle to get through and absolutely exhausting. Perhaps it was a challenging day at work, a long car ride with family, or perhaps the things going on in your life are such a burden that you simply cannot seem to catch a break.
It seems that we all have those days from time to time. Sometimes it even seems like those days pile on one after the other. It is mentally and physically draining. It seems that all you want to do at the end of one of those days is to simply rest.
It’s at those times that I am extremely thankful for the reminder of Matthew 11:28. This verse tells us, straight from the mouth of Jesus Christ, that real rest is not found in anything other than Him. You can have the best sheets and blankets, the nicest vacation house, the perfect itinerary for a trip, but none of that truly gives rest.
Our world is constantly moving and spinning. Our lives seem to get more chaotic by the day. When you find yourself needing a break from it all, do not fall for the traps of the world. The real rest for a weary soul, no matter the cause, is Jesus.
