Stand up for truth and don’t look back!

Stand up for truth and don't look back!

But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. — Genesis 19:26

The story of Lot’s wife is a popular one from the Old Testament and as part of the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. We have often heard about God’s judgment and the wickedness in Sodom and Gomorrah and how His judgment ended in destruction.

I probably do not have to remind you of the wickedness in our world today. Many of the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah are present today in our world and specifically here in the United States. It’s absolutely sickening the wickedness that is happening.

What may be more concerning is that many Christians are not standing against wickedness. Instead, they prefer to be safe. They do not want to upset anyone or feel like they are being judged for their actions. Many have become comfortable with the wickedness around them, where they simply just tolerate it and move on.

That was never how God intended for us to live. He intended for Christians to be the voice of truth, to stand against the wickedness of the world, and to share the gospel with all. Rather than fleeing the wickedness, as we see Lot’s family do here in Genesis, we are seeing a lot of Christians look back and hold on to the wickedness of the world, like Lot’s wife.

God is looking for Christians that are willing to stand against wickedness, to stand for truth, and to share a light with the world around us. It is time we stand for truth without looking back. There is nothing this world offers that is worth having.
