And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight. — Numbers 13:33
In this story, Caleb has just encouraged the children of Israel to go forward together and take the land that lay before them. Caleb said they should all go at once and possess the land. Caleb represented heart for the children of Israel.
Unfortunately, when you are following your heart there always seems to be naysayers that are around you. We see that in verse 32 where people that were with Caleb said there was no way they could inhabit the land. They saw giants in the land and they said it made them feel like grasshoppers.
Caleb, the heart, said that while there were giants in the land, he knew they would overcome. Why? Because God had told them to go forward into the land. Everyone around him said that they would fail. Why? Because it would take work and would be a challenge.
Nothing in life comes easy and many times, the things God asks us to do will take work. If we know that God is telling us to do it, we must follow our hearts. Don’t listen to those that say you can’t, when God says you can.
