But he giveth more grace. — James 4:6
I often write about the struggles and the issues that we deal with in life. It’s no secret that life is not easy. In our world, we have to deal with some of the strongest influences of sin that perhaps any generation has thanks to technology. Everywhere we turn, we deal with the temptation to sin thanks to the wicked influence of this world.
At the first part of chapter 4, James writes about all sorts of things that he and the people in that area were dealing with. They were dealing with fighting among the people, there were wars that were taking place. He shared how the people were dealing with lust and adultery.
Many of those things sound familiar, don’t they? We deal with many of the same things. Even as the struggles and strife may be happening, James goes on to make a profound statement that is completely contrary to the things he just talked about.
It’s almost like James had a moment where he realized that even among the influence of sin, there are many people who have been able to overcome those temptations and sin. How did that happen? Because God gave more grace.
Each of us has a temptation that we are more susceptible to than others. It is in those instances that we need to ask God for more grace to overcome those temptations. No matter how strong the temptation that you may face, God has the grace to help us overcome.
