One thing that can stand between you and God

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. — Romans 8:38 & 39

In life, there are a lot of things that are not certain or permanent. We spend money on houses that we hope will last a lifetime, but soon we learn that the pieces of that home will not last forever as we are forced to replace them. We experience the same thing with cars or other things that we purchase.

Even our bodies are not permanent. While we want to plan extravagant things in our life, no one is guaranteed tomorrow. That could not be any more evident than through the COVID pandemic where so many people have died at a young age. It truly shows us that life is fragile.

While things in life may not be permanent, one thing that is permanent is our relationship with God. Having a relationship with God is the absolute highest honor that can be bestowed on a person.

In these verses, there are so many things that are mentioned as things that could try to separate us from God. The end conclusion is that none of the things can end Christ’s love for us. Nothing can stop Him from loving us or from wanting to spend eternity with us.

Only one thing can keep us from this relationship with God. That is our refusal to accept Him and to have a relationship with Him. To experience this relationship, we must accept Jesus Christ as Savior and submit our lives to Him.
