Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? — Matthew 6:26
As we started into the new year, there were a lot of conversations I heard where people shared their anxieties for the new year. Some asked if the economy would remain strong. Others wondered about their job security amid economic changes.
Many asked when the pandemic would end and when we would be able to get back to normal. There were so many things that we wondered what the new year would hold. Now, two weeks into the year, we see a world around us where people are full of anxiety about a lot of different circumstances already.
In His teachings in Matthew, Jesus talked about worries and concerns of life. He told the people that day, forever recorded for us to live by through Scripture, that they should not worry about things in life. It was not enough that Jesus told them, He gave them a great illustration.
He spoke about the birds of the air and how He takes care of them. He said that He makes sure the birds have the needs of life and explains that we are much more important to Him than the birds.
It is so easy to worry about life. The next time you are anxious about life, just look up into the sky and look for a bird. They are not spending their day worried about the things they need. They rely on God, just like we should. God will take care of you!
