Depression is a reality of life for many people. While it may happen, we do not have to live in constant depression. God has provided a way to overcome the depression of the world!

We have compiled a collection of verses to reflect on during times of depression. We hope that these will be verses of encouragement and strength through the challenge you face.

Remember that God wants to help us. As you read these verses, do not hesitate to call on Him and ask His help. He will hear and help you in your battle against depression.

Psalm 34:17 & 18 –  The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Isaiah 41:10 – Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Psalm 9:9 – The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

Romans 8:31 – What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Psalm 23:4 – Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Psalm 37:5 – Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Deuteronomy 31:8 – And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

Psalm 91:2 – I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

John 16:33 – These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Romans 8:38-39 – For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Isaiah 40:31 – But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Proverbs 3:5 & 6 – Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Philippians 4:8 – Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
